Abiomed (Danvers, Massachusetts), manufacturer of a broad range of heart support and recovery products, has appointed Eric Rose to its board of directors. Dr Rose, a cardiothoracic surgeon, is an expert in FDA trial design, has led multiple clinical trials in circulatory care and was a pioneer in the use of ventricular assist devices. He is currently CEO and chairman of the board of biotech New York firm SIGA Technologies (products for the prevention and treatment of serious infectious diseases).
