"An important advance in the war against MRSA" was how Dutch consultant microbiologist Professor Dr Jan Kluytmans described the launch this month of 3M's BacLite rapid MRSA test. The product, which is claimed can "effectively and reliably" detect the presence or absence of MRSA in high-risk patients within five hours, was officially unveiled at the 17th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID). It is being launched throughout Europe, 3M told Clinica.
