2007 saw venture capitalists inject over $3.4bn in two leading Asian markets, China and India. According to reports by Dow Jones VentureSource, total VC investment in China-based businesses reached $2.49bn. Of this, $175m went into 21 healthcare deals, representing a more than two-fold gain over the $86m invested in the previous year. Businesses in India welcomed a total $928m in VC investments. Some $100m went to the country's emerging healthcare industry, a significant increase over the $41m invested in 2006.
