The European Commission has launched a consultation process on dental amalgam and alternative dental restoration materials that will run until February 22. The consultation invited comments on two scientific opinions on dental amalgam and alternatives: the first is a report from the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR) adopted on November 29 2007; and the second is a report by the Scientific Committee on Health and Environmental Risks (SCHER), adopted on November 29 2007. For further details about the essential findings of these reports, see: http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/health-consumer/dyna/enews.cfm?al-id=681
