Ortho Kinematics, a company developing spine motion analysis technology, said it will step up and expand its US commercialisation plans after having raised $3.5m in new capital. Investors in the Austin, Texas company were PTV Sciences, the State of Texas Emerging Technology Fund and Gatebridge Investments. Ortho Kinematics is currently rolling out its KineGraph VMA (vertebral motion analyser) which offers spine surgeons a noninvasive method of assessing the quality and quantity of inter-vertebral motion. The technology is already installed in two US hospitals and one in the UK – the company plans to install the product in several additional US hospitals over the next six months.
