Executive Summary
The silver-impregnated polyurethane foam dressings developed by Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) have been granted 510(k) clearance by the US FDA. AMS is seeking a suitable partner to commercialise the products in the US. The dressings employ foam from Corpura, a Dutch company part-owned by AMS, and have been approved for the management of partial-to-full thickness wounds with light-to-moderate exudate. These include pressure sores, diabetic ulcers, leg ulcers, graft and donor sites, lacerations and abrasions, first and second degree burns, trauma wounds and post-operative surgical wounds. AMS (Winsford, UK) acquired 49.4% ownership of Etten-Leur-based Corpura in May 2008.
