Microfabrica gets $22.5m to expand medtech unit

Microdevices developer Microfabrica has closed a $22.5m series B financing round co-led by Versant Ventures and InterWest Partners. Existing shareholders in Van Nuys, California-based Microfabrica also participated in the round. The company said it will use the funds primarily to expand its portfolio of minimally-invasive medical devices using its EFAB miniaturisation technology. The capital will also go towards growing its electronics and defence businesses.
