Cardima, Dot Medical in electrophysiology agreement

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Cardima is set to bring its electrophysiology (EP) ablation technology to the European market for the first time, after signing a UK distribution agreement with medical device supplier Dot Medical. This exclusive agreement will see Dot, which specialises in devices for treating cardiac arrhythmias, roll-out Cardima's EP product line, which includes the Pathfinder and Revelation diagnostic catheters, and the Revelation T-Flex ablation system with Intellitemp energy management device, across the UK during 2008 and 2009. The EP ablation technology is designed to treat atrial fibrillation (AF). According to Fremont, California-based Cardima, the UK, as well as other European countries, is facing difficulties in treating large numbers of patients with AF due to the current complexity of the procedures.
