Qiagen has launched its HLA-B*5701 Olerup SSP kit in the EU. The HLA-B*5701 allele, a genetic variant in the human leucocyte antigen (HLA) system, is linked with a higher risk of hypersensitivity reaction in patients receiving GlaxoSmithKline's HIV drug Ziagen (abacavir).
