More than 1.3 million people in Spain are thought to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), yet 70% of cases remain undiagnosed. So says the national federation of associations of respiratory disease patients (FENAER), which was officially launched today (November 19), to mark world COPD day. Respiratory disease and thoracic surgery experts have put their weight behind the group, whose main aims are to promote better prevention, diagnosis and care of respiratory diseases, and to raise public awareness.
