As the European Union adopts a more patient-centric approach to healthcare and emphasises the need for patient choice, the diagnostics industry is exploiting this opportunity to introduce an increasing variety of self-test kits. This development is also being spurred on by member states’ growing requirements for patients to take more responsibility for their own health, both on a financial and practical level. But has it gone too far?
