Federal Task Force Plans New Look Into Breast Cancer Screening

This article was originally published in The Gray Sheet

Executive Summary

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force issued a draft research plan to review the impact of screening with traditional mammography, as well as 3-D imaging, MRI, ultrasound and clinical breast examination on breast-cancer-specific and all-cause mortality, including the benefits of screening starting at age 40. It would be an update to 2009 USPSTF recommendations that were the source of high-profile controversy.
