ICU Medical picks up Hospira's critical care product line

Maker of vascular therapy connection systems ICU Medical acquires Hospira's critical care product line for $35 million under a definitive agreement announced July 9. ICU has been manufacturing a majority of the products for Hospira under a 2005 agreement. Hospira's critical care devices include hemodynamic monitoring systems, disposable blood-pressure sensors and various catheter systems, according to Hospira's 2008 annual report. The divestiture "will enable an even greater focus on Hospira's core strategic areas of specialty injectable pharmaceuticals and medication management systems" such as infusion pumps, the firm says
