Executive Summary

Surgical ophthalmology business acquired through Pharmacia in April will be sold, drug firm announces. The unit, which generated roughly $150 mil. in revenue in 2002, manufactures the Healon visco-elastic for ocular surgery, as well as the CeeOn and Tecnic intraocular lenses. Manufacturing facilities are located in Groningen, The Netherlands, and Uppsala, Sweden. Potential bidders likely include ophthalmic device firms Bausch & Lomb and Alcon.
