Firm acquires 65.4% stake in Austrian 3-D ultrasound firm Kretztechnik AG from Korean ultrasound maker Medison July 17. GEMS plans to make a tender offer for the remaining publicly held shares within the next two weeks. Acquisition will give GEMS rights to Kretztechnik's real-time Voluson 730 ultrasound system, which provides real-time 3-D images, or "4-D" imaging. Deal expected to close in September
