Executive Summary
Following the November merger of the European Confederation of Medical Devices Associations (EUCOMED) with the International Association of Medical Prosthesis Manufacturers (IAPM) and the subsequent shut down of German IAPM offices, the Federal Association of the Medical Device Industry in Germany (BVMed) expands, establishing an "active implants" sectorial interest group for manufacturers of pacemakers and implantable defibrillators, the German trade association announces Dec. 16. The group's first step in demonstrating the merits of the active implants sector will be organizing a conference entitled "Effects of the Health Care Reform on Medical Innovations in Cardiology," scheduled for Feb. 17, 2000 in Berlin
