Executive Summary
Legislation introduced May 13 in the House (HR 1816) by Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) and in the Senate by Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.) would require group health plans to cover colorectal cancer screenings at regular intervals for any participant or beneficiary over the age of 50 or who is under 50 but at "high risk" for the disease. The effective date for coverage would be Jan. 1, 2001
