Augustine Medical Bair Hugger: Federal jury in Minneapolis awards Augustine Medical $16.8 mil. in damages from Mallinckrodt Medical and $1.7 mil. in damages from Gaymar Industries after deciding in August that Mallinckrodt's WarmTouch and Gaymar's Thermacare infringe on three Augustine patents covering the Bair Hugger forced air warming blankets ("The Gray Sheet" Sept. 15, In Brief). The court also granted an injunction against Mallinckrodt and Gaymar that prevents them from accepting or fulfilling any new orders for the infringing blankets.
