Augustine Medical Bair Hugger: Surgical patient warming system used in a study showing that preventing hypothermia in patients undergoing colorectal resection surgery is "likely to decrease infectious complications and shorten hospitalization." Published in the May 9 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine, the study, by Andrea Kurz, MD, University of California, San Francisco, et al., included 200 patients and compared routine intraoperative thermal care to additional warming with the Bair Hugger Total Temperature Management system to maintain "normothermia."
