MEDICARE COVERAGE OF Nd:YAG CAPSULOTOMY WOULD BE RESTRICTED to correction of opacification following cataract surgery under a proposed rule limiting coverage for cataract surgery published by the Health Care Financing Administration in the Oct. 6 Federal Register. Medicare would not cover the procedure if it were "performed or scheduled concurrently with cataract removal surgery," HCFA explains.
