Executive Summary

Pfizer subsidiary files patent infringement suit July 14 against Sharplan Lasers (a subsidiary of Laser Industries) and Fibrasonics Inc. alleging infringement of three patents by the Ultra ultrasonic aspirator. The device is made by Fibrasonics and distributed by Sharplan. Valleylab says the patents relate to its CUSA ultrasonic surgical aspirator. The suit, filed with the Federal District Court in the Northern District of Illinois, responds to an action brought by Fibrasonics against Valleylab on July 7 which claimed that the allegedly infringed patents were invalid.
