Executive Summary
Ten-year-old Torax Medical Inc. (developing devices designed to treat diseases resulting from defective sphincter muscles) has raised $30mm in its Series D financing led by Piper Jaffray Merchant Banking, which was joined by another first-time backer Kaiser Permanente and returning investors Sanderling Ventures, Thomas, McNerney & Partners, Accuitive Medical Ventures, and Mayo Medical Ventures. Funds from the round will support commercialization activities of its products including the LINX reflux management system for GERD.
