Executive Summary
RF Surgical Systems Inc. (developing radiofrequency systems to detect and prevent retained surgical sponges) raised $12mm in a Series C financing round led by first-time backer Split Rock Partners. Returning shareholders Menlo Ventures, Stanford University, and two company founders participated along with four unnamed investors. The money will support marketing activities of its RF Assure detection system, which launched in November 2010, and for R&D programs.
