After several years of delays, restarts and revisions to plans, South Africa’s medical device regulatory system has taken a big step forward with the setting of a deadline for manufacturers, importers and distributors to license their establishments locally. Medical devices will be on the agenda, alongside pharma, at the next WHO regulatory forum – the 17th International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA). The meeting will be held in Cape Town, South Africa on November 29-December 2 2016. South Africa’s new Medicines Control Council (MCC) registrar Dr Joey Gouws will host the event.
