Executive Summary
Aesthetic device maker Syneron plans to launch Primaeva Medical's non-surgical skin tightening technology in 2010 after acquiring the firm for $7 million, plus up to $23 million in future milestone payments, under a definitive agreement announced Oct. 15. The FDA-cleared Primaeva wrinkle treatment uses a micro-needle electrode array housed in a single-patient use applicator tip to deliver bipolar fractional radiofrequency energy directly within the reticular dermis, Syneron explains. The purchase follows Syneron's September purchase of fellow aesthetic device maker Candela for $65 million (1"The Gray Sheet" Sept. 14, 2009)
