FDA commish: Former New York City Health Commissioner Margaret Hamburg was confirmed by the Senate as the 21st commissioner of FDA May 18. Once sworn in, she will take the helm from deputy commissioner Joshua Sharfstein, another Obama appointee who has been in charge on an acting basis since March.
