Biosensors fends off Angiotech, Boston Scientific

Production and distribution of the Axxion drug-eluting stent continues in Europe after Biosensors prevails in a patent dispute brought by Angiotech and Boston Scientific. Biosensors' stent originally was cleared for sale in Europe in July 2005, but the firm was sued in December 2005. Angiotech and Boston Scientific claimed the device infringed a patent describing the use of paclitaxel and a polymeric coating on a stent.
