Executive Summary

CANADIAN VOC REG HARMONIZATION WITH U.S. IS "VITAL TO INDUSTRY," according to a March 31 report prepared for the Environment Canada committee responsible for developing a regulatory program to reduce VOC emissions from Canadian consumer products. The report concludes that among the issues the committee needs to address is the fact that "it is considered vital to industry that harmonization of any Canadian regulations with widely applied regulations in the states be achieved." The report, "Options for Reducing VOC Emissions from Consumer Products" was prepared by the Toronto-based consulting firm Ortech International.
