This article was originally published in The Rose Sheet

Executive Summary

CHINESE COUMARIN DUMPING FOUND INJURIOUS TO U.S. MANUFACTURER BY ITC in a 6-0 vote Feb. 9. The International Trade Commission found indication or threat of material injury to the sole domestic producer of the fragrance ingredient coumarin, Rhone-Poulenc Specialty Chemical, by importers of Chinese coumarin, who are allegedly selling the material at less than fair value. Rhone- Poulenc and the importers are the only two major suppliers of coumarin in the U.S. market. Coumarin is used in perfumes, lotions, soaps, detergents and household and industrial products.
