GAO reviewing WIC rebates impact on infant formula prices for May report.

INFANT FORMULA PRICING VIS-A-VIS WIC REBATES UNDER GAO REVIEW for a report due to be released in May, General Accounting Office Food & Agricultural Issues Director Robert Robinson told the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee at a March 17 hearing on reauthorization of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants & Children. Addressing the rebate system in place under WIC, Robinson said GAO will attempt to determine whether "that huge rebate [is] resulting in higher prices...for everybody else."
