"CRUELTY-FREE" PRODUCTS DEFINED STANDARD SUPPORTED BY TOM'S OF MAINE as developed by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. The coalition, founded by nine animal protection organizations, announced the issuance of the "Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals" Nov. 19 at a New York City press conference. Tom's of Maine is one of 11 companies that have signed the standard, which establishes voluntary guidelines for companies with cruelty-free or non-animal testing policies.
