FDA officials missing in Chile
Executive Summary
FDA International Affairs Staff Director John Harty and Nashville District Office Acting Director Patrick Pouzar still missing in Chile as of Jan. 12 following the disappearance of their plane earlier in the week. The FDAers were on route from Copiapo to Santiago to visit fruit processing centers with Chilean officials as part of a review of procedures installed by Chile to ensure the safety of Chilean fruit after the cyanide grape scare of 1989.
