Medtech Veteran Robert Ford Will Take Over As Abbott CEO From Miles White
Abbott’s current COO Robert Ford will become the company’s new CEO on 31 March, 2020. Miles White is stepping down after 21 years leading the diversified health-care products company.

The top five cardiovascular device companies, as ranked by Medtech Insight’s MTI 100, have reported their sales and earnings for the last quarter of the calendar year 2019. Here are the highlights from the most recent presentations from Medtronic, Abbott Laboratories, Boston Scientific, Edwards Lifesciences and Terumo.
Abbott Laboratories’ medical device businesses grew 10.6% year over year in the third quarter of 2019 while its diagnostics business grew 6.6%, helping the company grow 7.6% overall, the company reported on 16 October.
In Medtech Insight's latest rankings of top 100 revenue-earners in the medical device and diagnostics sector, it was steady as she goes for most of the multinational medtechs, with some major exceptions. But there will be more M&A reflected in next year's ranking based on 2018 revenues. Also, medtech groups leading the global market tightened their grip further in 2017, as providers chose to partner more and more with fewer suppliers who can offer a wider provision of services.
