US FDA Encourages Broader Use of Popular IVD Coding Standard, Cautions Off-Label Use

The US Food and Drug Administration has made 20 new entries to its list of recognized medical device standards for use in pre-market reviews1. The chosen standard is based on the Logical Observation Identified Names & Codes (LOINC) database, which was created to simplify electronic exchange of lab data between clinical laboratories and healthcare providers which routinely share health-related information.
