Avedro brings on board Wright's CEO

Eyecare technology developer Avedro has elected Wright Medical’s president and CEO Robert Palmisano to its board of directors. While Wright is an orthopedics company, Mr Palmisano has substantial experience in the ophthalmic technology space. He led refractive laser surgery firm IntraLase between 2003 and 2007 before it was acquired by Advanced Medical Optics (now Abbot Medical Optics). Prior to that, he headed up Summit Technology from 1997-2000; Summit was subsequently acquired by Alcon. Mr Palmisano has also held executive positions in Bausch & Lomb. Waltham, Massachusetts-based Avedro specializes in corneal cross-linking, a technology that involves a combination of pharmaceutical agent and proprietary medical devices, including the KXL and KXL II systems
