Smith & Nephew will be relieved after reporting a first fiscal quarter that was “a touch better than consensus”, according to Jefferies analyst Ingeborg Øie. Meanwhile, the company has agreed to buy Sushrut Surgicals, a 40-year-old Indian company that serves the mid-tier trauma market, and its related manufacturing firm Adler Mediequip. Financial details were not disclosed.
