The deepening scandal in Germany centring around false claims by medical institutions in a bid to speed transplant surgery for certain patients has both ethical and medical consequences. The national cardiothoracic society (DGTHG) fears that the episode could mean that many of heart transplant candidates in the 1,000-long waiting list will not now get them.
