As part of a shake-up by new CEO Olivier Bohuon, Smith & Nephew is looking for further growth through acquisitions, particularly in the advanced wound care and minimally-invasive surgery segments. The firm told attendees at the Jefferies 2011 Global Healthcare Conference in London yesterday that it was seeking to supplement organic growth with bolt-on purchases that would add new technologies or boost its presence in certain geographic areas, as well as with larger-scale takeovers.
