Executive Summary

UK skin cancer imaging firm Michelson Diagnostics has appointed Karen Miller Gillis as vice-president of sales and marketing and general manager of its new US subsidiary in Massachusetts. Ms Gillis has 16 years' sales experience in the medtech industry; she was most recently with surgical products company Mpathy Medical Devices (which was acquired by Coloplast in October 2010) and prior to that, with retina scanner firm Optos. Ms Gillis joins Michelson as the company expands commercialisation of its VivoSight optical coherence tomography (OCT) scanner outside the UK. The device, which allows dermatologists to see up to 2mm below the surface of the patient's skin and improve diagnosis of skin cancer, was cleared by the US FDA in January last year (www.clinica.co.uk, 22 January 2010).
