Executive Summary
While there is much talk about the growth opportunities in the emerging markets, the US continues to be the biggest and most significant market for medical devices, worth around $120bn in 2009 with an annual growth rate of 6%. Clinica hosted a webinar on 30 March 2011 with US consultants Dr Robert Keefer of TCG Medtech and Glenn Neumann of New World Regulatory Solutions to provide companies with an insight on the key trends in the US market and the regulatory landscape and recent developments at the FDA. The panellists also gave practical advice on how to tackle the market if you're a first-timer, such as how to identify and approach key opinion leaders to help launch your products; issues you need to address if you already have a presence in the US but your business is not living up to expectations; and the financial impact as FDA regulatory processes become more stringent.
