Executive Summary
Belén Crespo S�nchez-Eznarriaga has been appointed director of the Spanish healthcare products regulatory agency AEMPS (Agencia Española de Medicamentos y Productos Sanitarios). She replaces Cristina Avendaño, who had held the post since 2006. Ms Crespo’s background is principally as a pharmacist, having helped steer national policy aimed at reducing spending on medicines. She has also held various high-ranking roles in the former Insalud health system, and with the government’s food regulator, ASEAN.
