Executive Summary
Spinal implant firm Amedica has doubled the size of its distribution network and bolstered its international presence after purchasing US Spine for an undisclosed fee. The deal sees Amedica gain US Spine’s complementary facet technologies for open, minimally-invasive surgery, allograft and deformity correction procedures. US Spine (Boca Ranton, Florida) manufactures the Javelin minimally-invasive locking facet system, the Phantom Plus transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion/posterior lumbar interbody fusion, cervical and classic spine peek spacers and the Preference 2 spine system. Salt Lake City, Utah-based Amedica said the transaction would allow it to provide customers with a full line of spinal products, including its own implants made from fracture-resistant silicon nitride material. The firm’s implants are “BioActive” and have a hydrophilic microstructure surface that enhances bone in-growth.
