Ireland unveils first recipients of €3m disability and mental health innovation fund

Ireland has announced the recipients of a first round of grants, totalling over €2.6m ($3.5m), to support the development of innovative “personalised models of care” in the areas of disability and mental health. The awards went to 35 initiatives out of a total of 383 applications. Among the organisations to receive grants were: the Disability Federation of Ireland, the Galway Centre for Independent Living and the Irish Wheelchair Association. The government has committed a total of €3m this year to the project, which was announced in December 2009.
