Executive Summary
Competition will be introduced into the German statutory health insurance system from January 1st, 1996, when people can choose which Kasse they wish to join (see Clinica No 640, p 2). However, changing to another Kasse requires three months' notice and can only take place at the end of each year, so no changes will occur before January 1st, 1997.
