The person who coined the term "minimally invasive surgery" for laparoscopy overlooked one slightly less invasive technique - endoscopic surgery. Dr James McGuckin believes radiologists could be removing appendixes and colon cancers without any incisions at all, entering the body through the mouth or rectum. He presented preliminary results at RSNA in Chicago, November 26th-December 1st.
