Guidant (US) and CPI, a division of Guidant's cardiac rhythm management group, have launched the Ventak Mini family of cardioverter defibrillators in Europe and Canada. Guidant says it is the world's smallest full-featured implantable defibrillator. The first implants of the Ventak Mini occurred in Europe and Canada in late August and more than 100 have been implanted worldwide. Guidant has also received FDA approval for its Endotak DSP defibrillation lead for release in the US, where it will be launched in January 1996.
