Emerging nations offset stagnant European market for Kontron Instruments

Executive Summary

Kontron Instruments reported sales of Ecu 144 million ($188 million) for the year ended June 30th, 1995, a 5.5% decline in continuing operations compared with 1994. The European company, headquartered in the UK, blames ultrasound market weakness in Germany and France, as well as delays in product introductions. Net profits from continuing operations were around Ecu 3.5 million against profits of about Ecu 3 million in 1994, 2.4% of sales compared with 1.7% last year. In 1994 net profit was increased by Ecu 25 million relating to the sale of the US-based cardiovascular business.
