Executive Summary
Impra launched its Gelsoft zero-preclot vascular grafts at the American College of Surgeons annual meeting in New Orleans (October 22nd-27th). The Vascutek knitted, texturised polester grafts have a low profile internal velour and a high pile exterior to encourage pseudointima formation and are sealed with a patented gelatin hydrogel. Impra says porosity is less than 1 cm(3)/min/cm(2). Impra and Vascutek are currently working on antibiotic bonding and anti-thrombogenic surface modification technologies.
