Executive Summary
A new company which will provide financing for US projects using the Gamma Knife radiosurgery unit has been set up by American Shared Hospital Services. The medical services company and its chairman and CEO, Ernest Bates, will contribute their ownership of two existing Gamma Knife units for a 78% share of GKV Financing. Through its US subsidiary GKV Investments, Gamma Knife manufacturer Elekta is contributing $800,000 for a 22% stake in the new venture as well as an initial loan commitment. Financing will be available for units in the US and Brazil. Orders for four Gamma Knife systems are being placed initially.
