Varian Oncology Systems is to enter the medical oncology information systems market through a licensing agreement with OnCare Systems. Varian will market OnCare's Opus system to cancer centres with radiation therapy departments as an adjunct to its own Varis computer-based oncology management system. "The agreement anticipates a trend within the oncology marketplace to integrate the various disciplines pivotal to cancer therapy - chemotherapy, radiation and surgery," notes Varian Oncology Systems' president Tim Guertin. Since both Varis and Opus use the same PC-based hardware and software platforms, they can share the same computer.
